Our purpose
To promote improved career and education decision-making by
individuals.
Required Activities
Provide support for a career guidance and academic
counseling program designed to promote improved career and education
decision-making by individuals, especially in the areas of career information
delivery.
Make available to students, parents, teachers,
administrators, and counselors, and to improve accessibility with respect to,
information and planning resources that relate educational preparation to
career goals and expectations.
Equip teachers, administrators, and counselors with the
knowledge and skills needed to assist students and parents with career
exploration, educational opportunities, and education financing.
Assist
appropriate State entities in tailoring career-related educational resources
and training for use by such entities.
Improve coordination and communication among
administrators and planners of programs authorized by Perkins III and by
section 15 of the Wagner-Peyser Act at Federal, State, and local levels to
ensure non-duplication of efforts and the appropriate use of shared information
and data.
Provide ongoing means for customers, such as students
and parents, to provide comments and feedback on products and services and to
update resources, as appropriate to better meet customer requirements.
How we accomplish these activities
We produce the Montana Career Information System
Software (MCIS) as the state-based system of career information delivery.
We produce publications tailored to meet the
career-related needs of different groups of individuals.

Our website contains learning activities for teachers and counselors to
download to incorporate in lesson plans.
We serve on committees and are used as consultants in activities that relate
to Perkins III, Wagner-Peyser Act and the Workforce Investment Act to help
with coordination and non-duplication of services.
Feedback gathered by toll-free number, e-mail, and
online survey/feedback form.
Design and offer customized training for teachers, counselors, administrators and
government services staff on MCRN products.
